Ok, let me say this again, NEVER ELECT ANOTHER TEXAN EVER AS PRESIDENT. I MEAN THIS. Let see, a war that is easily approaching $300 BILLION. SE Louisiana is completely destroyed. What to do, what to do. Hmmm, $300 billion war and atleast $200 billion (will be more, trust me) to rebuild the gulf coast. The logical answer is to raise taxes. We can't do that now, Bush has to watch out for his party in the 06 elections. Bush announced today that he will not have taxes rise to help pay for any of this. Quoted from a respected newspaper (atleast I think they are respected) 'President Bush said Friday that rebuilding the Gulf Coast would "cost whatever it costs," that he would not raise taxes to pay for the recovery and that at least some of the expense would have to be offset by budget cuts in other programs. His call for some sacrifices in the federal budget came just a day after he addressed the nation in prime time from an outdoor lectern in New Orleans, where he promised to rebuild the city and the surrounding Gulf Coast, heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina.' ----->Hmmm, the domestic budget is on a shoestring as it is. Didn't budget cuts on domestic programs (you know like Flood control for New Orleans) lead us into this mess down in Louisiana. Let me be sarcastic and cynical. He must mean cutting the bloated military budget. But that can't happen, we must "STAY THE COURSE" in Iraq. 'The White House on Friday also offered a few more details about the president's proposals to provide incentives for rebuilding and to assist displaced residents with homesteading land and money for job retraining. The Gulf Opportunity Zone program he outlined on Thursday would offer special tax breaks to businesses and would cost about $2 billion; school vouchers, worth up to about $7,000 for displaced students, could be used for private as well as public schools. Administration officials are also considering a suspension of the steep import tariffs now imposed on cement from Mexico, lumber from Canada and numerous forms of steel.' ----->Ohhhhh, vouchers for private schools. I so hope that gets axed real quick. 'But he explicitly ruled out tax increases to pay for the reconstruction and relief costs, saying, "We got to maintain economic growth." He continues to press for a permanent extension of his tax cuts, which would cost $1.4 trillion over 10 years.' ----->I am begining to think he is on drugs. Don't the repubs say that the dems spend way too much money and show no restraint. Wouldn't that $1.4 Trillion come in handy balancing the budget or even better, helping to repay the reconstruction. And little tip, when the real estate bubble pops, there will be no economic growth. Not to mention if energey costs stay up here. Oh, and when people can;t get out of the mounting debt they are assuming to help keep the economy growing. Remember, 2/3rds of our economy is dependant on all of us shopping. 'The escalating bills for the damage wrought by the hurricane have begun worrying members of Congress, with a growing number of Republicans distancing themselves from what they view as unchecked spending by the White House. Congress is poised to make $35 billion in spending cuts over the next five years, some in Medicaid, the health care program for the poor.' ----->The repubs are looking at the end of a tunnel, but there is no bright white light. It is completely dark. When conservative newspapers in the south are saying the repubs are gonna lose a number of southern state seats, they be in BIG TROUBLE. Not to mention all the stupid ass quotes from the idiots in the GOP. Doesn't look good for the GOP when they are cutting Medicaid and health care for the poor. IT shows the repubs don't care about the poor just like the New Orleans mayor said. 'Mr. Riedl has published a new budget forecast that projects soaring deficits as a result of the hurricane, the war in Iraq and the Medicare drug program. All in all, he said, the budget deficit is likely to hit $520 billion in 2008, up from about $400 billion this year.' ----->I propose something easy. REPEAL THE TAX CUTS. It didn't help the poor and the rish can afford to pay their fair share. I am a true believer that if someone has money or 'MADE IT' in this country then they should gladly pay their taxes. This goes to corporations also. This country helped make them, they should pay back to the country.
On another note. Jeb Bush's lil boy got arrested Friday morning for publis intoxication and resisting arrest Friday morning. Takes after his uncle and counsins doesn't he.
You speak eloquently and have seemingly read every book ever published. You are a fountain of endless (sometimes useless) knowledge, and never fail to impress at a party. What people love: You can answer almost any question people ask, and have thus been nicknamed Jeeves. What people hate: You constantly correct their grammar and insult their paperbacks.
